Richards Ranch

Acres: 18

Dogs: Yes

Recreation: Nature walking, winter cross-country skiing

Description: Richards’ Ranch is a traditional piece of pasture land historically used for livestock grazing and now a reminder of Park City’s unique agrarian history. As the region continues to develop and become a world-class ski and recreational destination, the presence of such pastoral settings is becoming rare, yet vital to the character of Park City. The property is now owned by Park City Municipal Corporation. Its grazing history is now preserved in perpetuity and characteristic to the property’s cultural and historic values.

What You Didn’t Know: In addition to its agricultural conservation value, the property contains wonderfully natural and scenic values. A tributary of McLeod creek runs directly through the property and adds wetland and riparian attributes to the property. The high protein content of the vegetation accompanying the stream provides critical forage to water feeders. Red-tailed hawks have been spotted on the property on several occasions. These raptors thrive in open meadows hunting for vole, mice and other rodents.
